Boston, MA -- A joyride in a BMW didn't end well for the driver, or the house that he crashed into.
The white BMW backed into the house on Mascot Street with such force that pieces of the porch were wedged in the car. The scene drew a large crowd. Neighbors had a hard time believing what happened.
"I hear this crash. It sounded like, you know, a car wreck."
That's exactly what it was. But the driver was not who you'd expect.
"We found out that an 8-year-old adolescent got in the car, started it across the street. It jumped in reverse, he backed in and crashed into the building."
The boy was not hurt. The residents of the house also escaped injury. But clearly the damage to the home and foundation was extensive. And what you see on the outside is only part of it.
"The foundation has also been compromised, so we have to shore up the basement to make sure that the house doesn't sink or collapse at all."
Boston firefighters also had to take a chainsaw to the beautiful shrubs to make room for the tow truck.
"I just moved to the neighborhood and excitement is already happening."
