Seaside Heights, NJ (CNN) -- Beach-goers use the Sky Ride in Seaside Heights, New Jersey to glide above the boardwalk.
But on Saturday, the usually calm trip turned scary when the power went out.

One teenager didn't want to wait for rescue and jumped off. And it was all caught on camera.

Melanie Rossomando jumped off the Seaside Heights Sky Ride during a storm on Saturday.  The ride lost power with Melanie and her best friend Herlide Joseph dangling 35 feet in teh air.

"I looked to side and was like we're next to a huge metal pole and in my mind, I'm like we are in a metal death trap now.  In my mind I was like I'm either getting struck by lighting, or I break a leg maybe," Rossomando said.

So Melanie took the leap.  Her friend did not.

"I was like okay, I'll only jump if you jump too! And she said okay and then she jumps - and I was like, oh wait.  I wasn't ready," said Joseph.

"I was like that'd be so funny if there was a video on You tube.  I said - it'd be hysterical, but I doubt it.  And then there was.  Like, who thought who would take out their phone," said Rossomando.

Turns out, Elias Geronimo and Gene Gonzalez were trying to capture the storm's wrath when they heard screams coming from the Sky Ride.

Now, all of New Jersey and the world gets to see Melanie's jump.

Fortunately, she was not hurt.

Casino Pier, which runs the Sky Ride says people were being evacuated when the ride lost power.  The company also says everyone got off safely including Rossomando's friend, who didn't jump.
