The Avengers are coming back together; it's just going to take a while.
Walt Disney Studios announced that the release date for Avengers 2 has been set for May 1, 2015.
Last week, Disney announced that Joss Whedon would be back to direct after helming Avengers to a current domestic total of $617 million (and climbing). That's Tony Stark kind of money.
In the meantime, Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) told USA TODAY in June that he might call out "Avengers Assemble" a few times before.
"Perhaps at kids' birthday parties when they don't expect it," he said.
Downey is currently shooting Iron Man 3, which has been delayed due to a minor foot injury on the set. The film is expected to hit theaters May 3, 2013.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will bring back Chris Evans for an April 4, 2014, release date. And Chris Hemsworth's Thor: The Dark World will be released Nov. 6, 2013.
