New Orleans (WGNO/CNN) - Rap star Lil Wayne unveiled his new skate park in New Orleans' hard-hit Lower Ninth Ward this week.
The NOLA native, who turned 30 Thursday, says this is his way of giving back to the community badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
Lil Wayne showed his skateboard skills after cutting the ceremonial ribbon.
The skate park is constructed of recycled materials and runs on solar energy.
Complete with ramps, stairs and elevated lifts, those who helped fund the site are hoping the skate park will become a destination for action sports enthusiasts.
