
QUEENS, NY (NBC) -- Several balloons scheduled to make an appearance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade were put to the test.
The annual Macy's Balloonfest was held Monday afternoon in Queens, New York.
Each year, organizers test fly the parade's debut class of giant character balloons in real world outdoor settings.
During the test flight the balloons are anchored to workman vehicles and flown under the direction of a flight management team captain along with hundreds of balloon handlers.
This year the balloons cleared for the annual turkey day celebration include the Pillsbury Doughboy, Ronald McDonald, Spider-Man and Mickey Mouse.
