Doctor Who star Matt Smith will take on the lead role of Patrick Bateman in a musical production of American Psycho in London.
Rupert Goold will direct this stage adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' famed novel, which will begin Dec. 3 and run until Jan. 25, 2014, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Smith is the youngest actor ever - 26 when cast, now 30 - to play the Doctor in the BBC series, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this November. Once his run is up at the end of the year, actor Peter Capaldi will take over the role.
Rehearsals are underway in London, and Goold tweeted some behind-the-scenes photos of the cast getting into character. "Rehearsals begin for AP," he posted along with a shot of the cast with their scripts.
"He regenerates as ... Patrick Bateman," Goold tweeted with a photo of Bateman flanked by two other castmates.
