Woman killed in Franklin County motorcycle crash

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KSDK) – A 67-year-old woman is dead and a 58-year-old man is injured after they were ejected from their motorcycle on Route HH about a mile north of Oak Ridge Road.

It happened at approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say the motorcycle and a Toyota Prius were headed northbound on Route HH. The Prius stopped suddenly in order to make a turn into a private drive. The motorcycle tried to swerve around it, but it ultimately hit the vehicle before driving off the road and flipping over – ejecting both the driver and the passenger, according to the accident report.

Barbara Lachance of Fenton was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver, identified as Michael Whitecotton of House Springs, was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.

The person driving the Prius has been identified as 20-year-old Meredith Vitale of Eureka.
