Miami (WSVN/CNN) - Mother's Day is just a few days away.
While many daughters are looking for the perfect gift or ordering the most beautiful flowers, one Florida woman can relax.
That's because she's given her mom the best gift of all: the gift of life.
Several years ago, Yolanda Mixon developed lupus, an autoimmune disease that attacked her kidneys.
Her daughter, Lekisha, offered her mom one of her kidneys.
But it took years before Yolanda was healthy enough to even get the transplant.
The surgery happened Wednesday in Miami, and doctor say the donor kidney is performing beautifully.
"And we're here today. My daughter gave me the gift of life. She in my debt forever," said Yolanda.
"I feel like my mom has given me the most wonderful life. I've never had to want for anything. This was my way of giving back to her and showing her that I appreciate everything," said Lekisha.
Doctors plan to release Yolanda and Lekisha sometime this weekend.
They'll be spending this very special Mother's Day at home together.
