Houston (KPRC/CNN) - An animal rescue group in Houston made a gruesome discovery this week.

Volunteers were out feeding strays when they discovered several bags filled with the bodies of mutilated dogs.

Most of what our cameras captured on this northeast Houston street is too graphic to show you.

It's an area of town situated just off the Eastex Freeway near Little York, known to many as the corridor of cruelty. That's exactly what Anna Barbosa and her animal rescue group discovered.

"One of our volunteers found seven bags full of dead dogs in various stages of decomposition," said Barbosa.

The bags are scattered up and down, even inside a ditch. Some are covered in rain water, others are covered in bugs. It's a terribly upsetting sight for anyone, especially Barbosa and her Corridor Rescue Group.

They work to rehabilitate and sometimes adopt the stray animals in the area.

"Maybe somebody grabbed all these dogs and decided to mutilate them, kill them, torture them. We don't know what happened here," she said.

Barbosa admits that on occasion they do find dead dogs in the field, but never like this.

"But this is severe because this is more than one dog. This is seven bags full of dead dogs," she said.

Barbosa says her next step is working with the police and CrimeStoppers to clean the area up and find out who did this.

"We really want to get to the bottom of this. We need a resolution," said Barbosa.
