SAN DIEGO (AP) - The pilot and passenger of a banner-towing plane have made an emergency landing on San Diego Bay.

The FAA says the pilot of the single-engine Cessna 150 reported engine problems and ditched in the water south of the Coronado Bay Bridge around 4:20 p.m. Saturday.

Coast Guard spokesman Michael Haas said boaters in the area rescued the men. They were transferred to a Coast Guard rescue boat and cleared medical examinations.

Haas said the plane sank. He said San Diego Harbor Police divers found the aircraft and were waiting for its owner to decide whether to salvage it.
