Ft. Lauderdale, FL (WSVN/CNN) - South Florida officials are looking for a wealthy businessman after his boat came ashore on Fort Lauderdale Beach early Wednesday.
Guma Aguiar went out to sea around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.
Federal, state, and local law enforcement all are participating in the search.
"We're all out there, coordinating a search of the waterways, as well as the ocean, to try to locate if he's possibly in the water. We had officers scouring the beach on ATVs, searching if he may have come ashore there," said Detective Travis Mandell.
The Brazilian-born Aguiar owns several homes around the world.
Police say he has been arrested in South Florida three times since 2009.
