LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - A wildfire burning south of Laramie, Wyoming that has forced hundreds of people to evacuate their homes has grown to 14 square miles.
Fire information officer Larry Helmerick says the Squirrel Creek Fire continues to threaten nearly 300 homes and more than 200 other buildings.
The fire is burning on the eastern flanks of the Snowy Range.
Helmerick says air tankers and firefighting crews on the ground helped bring the blaze to 12 percent containment as of late Tuesday night.
The fire began on June 30 and has destroyed one home and three outbuildings. It is among several major fires burning in the state.
