Los Angeles (KTLA/CNN) - A single-engine plane crashed in a Los Angeles neighborhood Friday evening, killing one person on board.
It happened just moments after the aircraft took off from Santa Monica airport.
Fire crews rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames.
No homes or buildings were damaged by the fire and it appears no one on the ground was hurt.
The plane is reportedly registered to a Santa Monica resident.
The cause of the crash is under federal investigation.
