Romulus, MI (WDIV/CNN) - A candlelight vigil was held Thursday night in Romulus, Michigan, to remember the lives lost in a plane crash 25 years ago.

Northwest Airlines Flight 255 crashed shortly after takeoff from Detroit Metro Airport on August 16th, 1987, killing 156 people.

The plane stalled in mid-air, hitting a light pole at the end of the runway before hitting a building.

The names of the victims were read as people gathered to pray.

A 4-year old girl was the only one on the plane who survived the crash.

Two people on the ground also died.
