Video: Akin calls rape "an evil act" in forgiveness ad
St. Louis (KSDK) -- Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin released an online ad calling rape "an evil act" and asked for "forgiveness."
Akin's newest ad is on his campaign's YouTube page. He discusses being the father of two daughters and wanting "tough justice for predators" and expresses he has compassion for rape victims.
The ad comes after Akin has been criticized by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for saying women's bodies are able to prevent pregnancies if they are victims of a "legitimate rape." If Akin does not drop out of the race by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, it would take a court order to get his name off them November ballot.
