Santa Barbara (KTLA/CNN) - A former University of California Santa Barbara student convicted of running down several pedestrians 11 years ago is set to be released from a mental health facility.
David Attias said he was the "Angel of Death" after he killed four people and permanently disabled another in February 2001.
In June 2002, Attias was convicted of four counts of second-degree murder.
A week later, he was deemed legally insane and committed to a state hospital.
A judge has now granted the 30-year-old conditional release, saying he has changed after years of therapy.
It's not clear when he will be released.
