Attica, NY (WIVB) -- Residents of a western New York village are crying foul over a stinky odor they say is choking the community.
Attica residents came out in full force during a town board meeting. Many stood up and expressed their frustrations about the foul odor in the air.
Residents believe the smell is coming from Hillcrest Industries' recycling operation.
First residents thought the stench was from rotting foods and liquids Hillcrest has in a 60,000-ton glass pile.
But they now believe it's coming from plastics and glass inside it.
So far the DEC hasn't released any information to suggest that there are fires inside the pile.
But after dealing with this for almost a year, residents and leaders say the issue needs to be resolved.
The EPA tested the air around the Attica schools. The results should be released by the end of the week.
But some are skeptical anything will change.
