NEW YORK (AP) - The man who has helmed New York City's Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts for more than a decade is stepping down.
President Reynold Levy will be leaving his position at the end of next year. The announcement was made Monday.
Under his tenure, the 16-acre center has undergone a $1.2 billion physical transformation. Its programming has been expanded and now includes a public art component, as well as the space being used for events like Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.
Lincoln Center Chairwoman Katherine Farley will lead a search committee for Levy's successor.
Levy became Lincoln Center's president in May 2002 at a period of some upheaval and infighting over the redevelopment plan. He has led a number of nonprofit organizations, including the International Rescue Committee.
