CHICAGO (KSDK) - Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn will honor Gen. Casmir Pulaski Monday to mark his 266th birthday.
The Polish-born general fought in the Revolutionary War and was killed at the age of 32 during the 1779 Battle of Savannah.
Gen. Pulaski was said to have saved American soldiers at Brandywine and is known as the "Father of the American Calvary."
Gov. Quinn will honor Gen. Pulaski by laying a wreath at a mural that honors him at the Polish Museum of America.
