Police in Pennsylvania have arrested the driver wanted for a hit-and-run crash early Sunday that killed a New York City couple and their premature baby.

Julio Acevedo, 44, was arrested as he left a convenience store in Bethlehem, Pa., just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, the New York Daily News reported. The paper was there for the arrest, carried out by New York police, and has photos.

He had been sought since the crash in Brooklyn that killed Nachman Glauber and Raizel Glauber, who was seven months pregnant. The 21-year-old ultra-Orthodox Jewish couple was not wearing seat belts, and they died at the hospital soon after the wreck. The 3-pound baby boy was delivered by C-section but died Monday.

Police say Acevedo's BMW was going an estimated 60 mph when he T-boned the livery taxi carrying the Glaubers. They were headed to the hospital because she was experiencing pain.

Acevedo, who has an extensive criminal record, told the Daily News on Tuesday that he fled the accident because someone was shooting at him. Police said, however, there had been no reports of gunshots just after midnight n the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

"My heart goes out to all of those people that's feeling like I'm so much of a bad guy and I'm really not," he said in the interview. "The cab driver came out of nowhere and I couldn't stop."

Two weeks ago, Acevedo was arrested for driving drunk.

He also has spent eight years in prison for the 1987 shooting death of a criminal called the "original 50 Cent," whose moniker inspired the famous rapper.
