NBC -- The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced the recall of a popular backyard playset after several children are hurt by falls.

Adventure Playsets, in conjunction with the CPSC and Health Canada, is asking owners of their products to stop using them immediately.

Here's why: the plastic coated lumber on the horizontal ladder portion of the swing beam, also considered the "monkey bars", can weaken over time due to the Rotting Whitewood material, putting children at risk of a fall.

Adventure playsets received at least 1,400 reports of rotting wood and 16 injuries that ranged from arm fractures to bruises in children under eight.

The sets were sold at Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, Academy Sports, Menards and Mill Stores nationwide.

Owners can contact Adventure Playsets for a replacement kit.

For more information, contact Adventure Playsets toll-free at (877) 840-9068 Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's web site at www.adventureplaysets.com.
