WWII soldier's dog tags found in the Netherlands

LANSING, Mich. – The family of a WWII soldier whose dog tags were discovered in the Netherlands has been located.

Phillip Nichols' oldest-living relative, a cousin who lives in Battle Creek named Herb Nichols.

"He was a good old guy," Herb Nichols said by phone Thursday morning. "He would never talk about the bad things that happened over there."

Nichols passed away in 2003 and is buried in Lansing. He earned a Silver Star during his service with E Company, 327th Glider Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles."
