Judge files injunction against embattled auction house

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) – A St. Louis County judge has filed a preliminary injunction prohibiting a local auctioneer from continuing to operate while authorities investigate accusations that his company failed to pay costumers for consigned items.

Malcolm Ivey and his company, Ivey-Selkirk Auctioneers and Ben Selkirk and Sons, Inc., are prohibited from providing an auctioneering services in Missouri during the state's litigation against him. The injunction also requires that he return all consigned items to their owners within 30 days.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed a suit against Ivey-Selkirk last month. The company has operated since 1830, but has been the subject of Better Business Bureau warnings and complaints from customers in recent years.
