Foods with trans fats

Trans fat occurs naturally in the gut of some grazing animals. However, about half of the trans fat consumed by Americans is produced artificially when hydrogen is added to a vegetable oil to make a more solid fat, like shortening or margarine, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
