St. Louis (KSDK) -- Chances are at one time or another, you've passed by the USO of Missouri at Lambert- St. Louis International Airport. It's a place where soldiers can put their feet up for a little while.

"We have 10,000 to 15,000 guests come through this facility every month," points out Kathy O'Connor, executive director of the USO of Missouri.

The USO of Missouri provides a touch of home for our traveling military. It's a place where they can log on or lay back and watch a movie.

"This is our media room and these are unbelievably comfortable recliners," O'Connor shows us on a tour of the facility.

It's also a place where soldiers can freshen up after a long flight.

"So we have lip balm, we have shaving cream, we have razors, we have shampoo, we have toothpaste," O'Connor says opening drawer after drawer.

Soldiers can also catch up on sleep.

"There are 160 USOs worldwide. So pretty much anywhere traveling military, or their family members go, there's going to be a USO there," O'Connor says.

None of those are as famous as the USO of Missouri.

"We are known worldwide for our chili cheese dogs," O'Connor adds.

"I have not had a chili dog, but I do plan on having one before my plane," says Private Ben Fair.

More importantly, however, it's about showing soldiers passing through how much they are appreciated.

"Just somebody to talk to, to say hey we represent the american public and we're here to support you and we appreciate what you do for our country," O'Connor says.

"You come in here and you have people thanking you for what you do and it's just a great environment to be in," Private Fair adds.

The USO of Missouri has about 700 volunteers and nine and-a- half employees. If you would like to lend a hand, the USO is always in need of bottled water. To donate visit the USO of Missouri's website.
