St. Louis (KSDK) - "Hot, that's the only thing you can say, hot," said Bobby James Monday from the stoop of his home on St. Louis Avenue.
James said his friend pays him $5 a week to house sit. But the place has no running water and only one electrical outlet that works. And James uses that to run a radio. James said it feels like 100 degrees or more in his house. But he doesn't mind.
"I've been to Vietnam. 106 degrees. That ain't going to bother me. Degrees do not bother me, you know what I'm saying," he said.
James' neighbors are bothered by it. They bought him a fan Monday, although James had not plugged it in when NewsChannel 5 caught up with him. They also give him cold water. Neighbors helping neighbors is the message Cool Down St. Louis is trying to pass along.
