SUV found in Mississippi River

St. Louis, MO (KSDK) - Firefighters and police responded to the riverfront in North St. Louis Monday morning after and SUV was found in the Mississippi River.

The vehicle could not be immediately identified. It had been previously reported that the SUV was a Ford Explorer.

Based on the amount of debris inside the vehicle, police suspect the SUV has been in the river for some time.

Early Monday evening a Coast Guard spokesperson said they did not discover any remains inside the vehicle.

Police contacted the U.S. Coast Guard to pull the SUV from the river.
