Brentwood, MO (KSDK) - Authorities are investigating a report of a suspicious man that asked a teen girl to get in his car in Brentwood, Missouri.
Police say the 14-year-old freshman at Brentwood High School was walking home Thursday afternoon when she saw the man parked in his car outside of her home.
When she passed the car the man rolled down his window and asked her to get in and help him find his lost dog.
She didn't answer him and instead she went into her home and her parents notified police.
"My mom and dad taught me to never talk to strangers," said the teen. "She went over what they usually say and I did what she taught me."
On Friday, the school sent out a robo-call to the entire school system to warn parents and students about the incident.
He was last seen driving a black four-door car with tinted windows.
Police say that while no crime was committed, it is suspicious.
"If he is up to something nefarious we can put him on notice that we know what he's about and if he is actually looking for one, we've got four or five officers out there who can find a dog pretty quick," said Brentwood Detective Sergeant Jim McIntyre.
Authorities are looking out for the man and have notified neighboring police departments.
