Los Angeles (KSDK) - Think of Hollywood, and chances are the three words lights, camera, action probably come to mind. But truth be told, there's actually more action before those words are uttered.
Eventually the stars make it to the set, get a little direction from the director and the scene is shot.
"Ah, perfect! That was great," the director said to the crew.
You also get quite a bit of action when you put Mae Whitman and Lauren Graham together for an interview.
In case you're not familiar, Lauren plays Mae's mom on the show, but she's one of many famous people, including Meg Ryan and Sandra Bullock, whom Mae has called mom over the years in movies.
"How does she compare," Whitman asked.
"As the least famous probably," Graham replied.
"I could legitimately say that Lauren Graham is my favorite mom," Whitman went on to say.
"When you're the kid you can say you're my favorite mom, but when you're a mom and especially when you have Gilmore Girls fans they get very upset with you," Graham pointed out.
In case you were wondering this back and forth is apparently how they are all the time.
"Yes! Isn't it exhausting," Graham said.
But it's also a really close cast. In real life Lauren actually dates Peter Krause, or Adam Braverman, her brother on the show.
And here's one more thing you might not have realized, Mae actually spends quite a bit of time in St. Louis.
"I grew up in St. Louis half and half. Yeah, in Ladue," Whitman explained.
"But you've been in Hollywood doing acting since you were three how did that work," Graham asked.
"Well actually, excuse me, I just visited a lot because my mom's whole family lives there and we're just close so we flew back and forth a lot," Whitman answered.
So keep your eyes peeled for an occasional star sighting in St. Louis.
