Springfield, MO (KYTV/CNN) - Police in the Springfield, Missouri area are looking for a man accused of several crimes.
Law enforcement officials say he crashed his car while running from police.
They say he ran away, broke into a home, assaulted an elderly couple with an ax and left with their car and a rifle.
"The suspect is obviously very dangerous a very violent individual. He fled from police, he seriously assaulted an elderly couple and he's stolen a weapon," said Maj. Phil Corcoran with the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
The husband and wife were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries from the ax attack, but are expected to recover.
