COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) - Planned Parenthood will again offer abortions at its Columbia clinic after a four-month wait to hire a new doctor.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri plans to again offer the procedure starting in February. The women's health clinic hasn't performed abortions since October, when its sole Columbia physician was called to active military duty and sent overseas.

The clinic recently merged with Planned Parenthood's Jefferson City office. It had also stopped performing abortions twice in 2010 for several months at a time.

Missouri reports that the number of abortions statewide in 2010 fell below 10,000 for the first time since 1973. That's the year the U.S. Supreme Court handed down its decision in Roe v. Wade that legalized the procedure.
