Lincoln County, MO (KSDK) - Firefighters from the Lincoln County Fire Protection District pulled a man from the banks of Cuivre River Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 800 block of East Port Au Prince in Moscow Mills for a water rescue. They found a man waist deep in the river.

The man was thrown a lifejacket, but was too tired and cold to pull himself to safety.

Firefighters descended the steep river bank using ropes and managed to rescue the man.

The man said he was sitting atop the river bank when he slipped and fell 25 feet down and landed in the water.

It's not known how long the man was in the water.
