St. Louis County (KSDK) - Super Sunday meant party Sunday in living rooms across the bi-state.
At one location, a party took on a different tone.
A family with a long standing Super Bowl tradition posted on our Facebook page, about a man who not only helps them pull off a party, but is inspiring with his courage.
Anna and Jeff Rebhan have thrown Super Bowl parties at their St. Louis County home for the last 13 years.
But the Rebhans are the first to admit, they haven't done it entirely on their own.
For the past five years they've counted on the services of Chef Jay Mareschal and his family, to feed the nearly 150 guests.
And along the way, they say Chef Jay has become like a member of the family.
This past July, Jay was diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease, a terminal disease that attacks the muscles, but not the mind.
It's an especially difficult diagnosis for a man accustomed to catering to the needs of others.
"A lot of things in my life that I do every day I consider, man I wonder if it's my last time. But you know what if it is I've had a great time and if it's not I'll have a good time doing it again," said Mareshal.
Some of the people at today's party are throwing a benefit next month for Chef Jay, something he says he's not really comfortable with. He prefers to think of it as just another chance to celebrate with friends and extended family.
