St. Louis County (KSDK) - They're 12 ½-years-old and their names are Prince and Princess.

They were in danger of being euthanized until a local rescue group stepped in. Their owner died and his wife lost her home to foreclosure.

She was going to turn them into a shelter, but the shelter staff talked her into keeping the dogs until they could find a rescue group willing to take them.

When they couldn't find one in Oklahoma, American Eskimo Rescue of St. Louis agreed to take the animals.

Volunteers with Pilots N Paws flew the dogs to Creve Coeur Airport Monday.

They'll get medical care, then be placed with foster families and eventually adopted.
