Rise and Shine Fundraiser
St. Louis (KSDK) - Fundraisers collected 10% more than last year for Heat-Up St. Louis when residents ate at Hardee's Friday morning.
The 12th annual Hardee's Rise and Shine event raised more than $95,000, a new record.
Around 550 volunteer 'celebrity greeters' gathered at around 60 Missouri and Illinois area Hardee's restaurants for the 'Rise and Shine for Heat-Up' benefit. Public officials, corporate leaders, and members of our NewsChannel Five team were among the greeters Friday morning.
Heat-Up St. Louis says it is in desperate need of funding to fulfill its mission of helping people with their electric bills during the winter months.
During Friday's event, celebrity greeters raised donations for the organization. Hardee's also donated proceeds from sausage and egg biscuit sales during the fundraiser.
Heat Up St. Louis says that all of the money collected Friday will remain in the communities where customers dropped off their donations.
