Old Monroe, MO (KSDK) - Highway 79 southbound in Old Monroe has been re-opened near Westhoff Road following a serious accident Monday morning.
The Missouri State Highway Patrols says that at approximately 8 a.m., a 1997 Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Highway 79 lost control on the snow covered roadway and crossed the center line, striking the front of a 2006 Mazda traveling in the opposite direction.
The driver of the 2006 Mazda, 44-year-old Amanda Moon of Clarksville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the 1997 Ford Explorer, 30-year-old Tricia Sliger of Foley, was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Officials say they were both wearing seatbelts.
