St. Louis (KSDK) - The father who allegedly abducted his teenage daughter from a St. Louis hospital has been arrested.
Dana Jones was arrested at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee around 10:30 Sunday night and is now being held at the Milwaukee County Jail.
A SARAA Alert was issued for his 14-year-old daughter, Brittany Jones, after she walked out of SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center with her father Sunday afternoon.
Jones was caught on security footage undoing his daughter's IV fluid and leading her out the door. Brittany Jones was in the custody of the state of Illinois' Department of Children and Family Services when she was taken.
It's not clear why a minor under the protection of the state was allowed to leave Cardinal Glennon with her non-custodial father.
A statement from a Cardinal Glennon spokesperson reads in part "The safety and security of our patients is our top priority and hospital leadership is actively reviewing the situation."
On Monday the hospital declined to comment on who was in charge of keeping an eye on Brittany Jones. The spokesperson tells us hospital security is typically in charge of patients, but cases involving DCFS can vary. The spokesperson also says the hospital does not have a specific policy on keeping patients in Bittany's situation away from exits.
St. Louis Police tell us they are working on charges against Dana Jones, but wouldn't comment on what those charges could be.
Brittany Jones is now safe and is receiving proper care for a kidney transplant she had in 2010.
