St. Louis (KSDK) - Missouri Department of Transportation engineers say they revised their plan of attack since the last winter blast which was during the morning rush hour of January 12th.

If you recall, MoDOT said it did not get the results expected with its new salt conservation plan and timing of the snow hitting at rush hour.

Traffic was snarled doubling or tripling morning commute times to the point that even MoDOT trucks got stuck it the mess, and could not treat the interstates.

After that storm, MoDOT said it debriefed and changed its plan of attack to be more aggressive in advance.

Between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, the plan was for MoDOT trucks to put down extra layers of salt, constantly retreating as the snow fell. They plan to do the same Tuesday morning.

"So that's why we changed our game plan and put down that extra, extra coating of salt and the salt brine down before those rush hours. And we're going to assume that we're not going to get out at all, and our trucks stuck in that traffic during those rush hours," said MoDOT District Engineer Becky Allmeroth.
