St. Louis (KSDK) - Two Barnes- Jewish Hospital employees were assaulted while on the job.

Investigators say both women were choked on different days, by the same man. Everyone involved in this case, describes it as bizarre.

Alfred Pierce, 29, was charged with two counts of third-degree assault.

The circuit attorney's office says on Sunday, Pierce walked into Barnes and grabbed a female employee by the neck, choking her.

Pierce got away, but came back on Monday, and grabbed another female employee by the neck.

He was arrested after that second incident, and charged with two counts of third degree assault, both misdemeanors, plus trespassing. The circuit attorney's office says neither victim was hurt.

NewsChannel 5 reached out to Barnes about the incidents, but they would only release the following statement:

"The safety of our patients and staff is the utmost priority of Barnes-Jewish Hospital. In two recent incidents, staff members became uncomfortable with the actions of the same hospital visitor. Security and police were summoned."

The circuit attorney's office says neither woman knew Pierce and the incidents didn't take place in emergency room, but wouldn't say exactly where.

Pierce is being held at St. Louis' Justice Center on a $500 cash-only bond.
