Eureka, MO (KSDK) - The Rockwood School District is set to be audited by the Missouri State Auditor's Office in the second half of 2012.
Rockwood Stakeholders for Real Solutions requested the audit after discovering school board member Steve Smith is an employee of Glenn Construction Co. while also previously serving as school board president. During that time Smith awarded millions of dollars to his company for construction management projects, often times without seeking competitive bidding.
Smith resigned as president earlier this year, but still sits on the board.
The audit was requested to assure taxpayers that district operations are in compliance with regulations, laws, and statutes of Missouri.
The last audit of the Rockwood School District was in 1994.
