East St. Louis, IL (KSDK) - The East St. Louis Treasurer is keeping some odd office hours.
The treasurer is closing his office Wednesday thru Friday of each week to save money, but it could be costing residents.
People who have to pay for towed vehicles, occupancy permits, work permits, and parking tickets will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday, or go to the mayor's office to take care of business.
NewsChannel 5 spoke with the mayor, and he hopes to work something out so that the treasurer's office can open Thursday.
"One of the things that increases revenues is making sure you're convenient to pay so we're not going to do a three day shut down. We've got to come up with another solution," said Mayor Alvin Parks.
Parks says the office was only shut down for about two and a half hours Wednesday morning because the mayor moved the treasurer's business to his office.
