Freeburg, Ill (KSDK) - Several fire departments in Illiniois spent hours overnight battling a three-alarm fire in Freeburg.

Fire crews got the call around 12:50 a.m. for fire at the Freeburg Township maintenance building that houses highway equipment.

Nine area departments responded to assist Freeburg, and the fire was under control by 3 a.m.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal is on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.  The highway equipment was destroyed.
