(CNN) - Purdue University is honoring perhaps its most famous alumni, the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong.

Armstrong died on August 25th, at age 82.

In his honor, the stickers will be emblazoned on the helmets warned by the Boilermakers football team. He made his mark on the university in Indiana as a student in the 50s.

Aeronautical engineering wasn't his only passion; Armstrong played the baritone horn in the Purdue marching band.

For the rest of the season, the stickers will appear on the back of Purdue's gold helmets, above the American flag.
