Chesterfield, Mo (KSDK) -- Students in the Parkway School District will see some green changes as they put their lunches on 100-percent recyclable styrofoam serving trays as part of a pilot program.
Craig Elementary School is one of six schools taking part in the program.
District officials say they're making the change because it's better for the environment.
There will be a special bin for the new trays which are made of 100-percent recycled paper fibers.
After use, district officials say they will be turned into compost so they won't end up in landfills.
They say the push for the program came from Parkway students.
The project is being funded with a $20,000 grant from the St. Louis Jefferson Solid waste Management District.
