St. Charles County (KSDK) - There is an update on two ballot issues in St. Charles County.

A last ditch court effort to keep a smoking ban off the November ballot has succeeded.

The county's director of elections took the measure off the ballot earlier this month saying the wording was too confusing, and on Tuesday a judge turned down a request by anti-smoking activists to put it back on.

The judge also ruled that a proposal to form a St. Charles County Police Department can go on the ballot, but it's not clear if that issue will go before voters next month.
