Godfrey, IL (KSDK) - A man is behind bars and facing possible charges after a threat is made on our NewsChannel 5 Facebook page.

Someone posted on our page Wednesday threatening a home in Godfrey, Illinois.

The first post was written around 2 p.m. Wednesday. NewsChannel 5 made the decision to contact authorities and investigators say they believe they have tracked down the person responsible for the postings.

The posts have since been taken down, but the first post said there would be a "massacre" at a specific address in Godfrey.

Another post warned the Madison County Sheriff's Office saying, "it's time to use your tactical training, I been trained very well."

The address referenced in the posts is a private residence.

The man who made the threats is in custody. Police say he is in his early 30s and is known to the people at the address.

There were sheriff's deputies outside the home Thursday in marked patrol cars.

NewsChannel 5 spoke to a person at the home but they declined to say anything about the threats.

"The postings (are) alarming. Obviously I can't speak for the person that posted those statements, but they were such that they certainly raised our level of awareness and it was worrisome enough that we took immediate action, who was responsible for making those post," said Lt. Kris Tharp with the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office plans to present its case against the person making the threats to prosecutors Friday, and at that time we hope to learn more about both the person and the investigation.
