Congressman John Shimkus at Excel Bottling for ribbon cutting.
Breese, Ill (KSDK) -- They're known for bottling a citrus soft drink with a cult following. Now, a company in Breese, Illinois, is trying its hand at locally brewed beer.
Excel Bottling puts out the soft drink Ski and cut the ribbon Friday morning on its new micro brewery.
The head brew master says its first beer is called Shoal Creek Wheat, named after the local water source. It's also working on Excel Golden Brew, Shoal Creek Winter Ale, Excel Citra and Carlyle Lake Lager.
The beer should soon be available in some Metro East grocery stores, hopefully in the next couple of months.
