St. Louis- (KSDK) St. Louis City police are looking for the suspect in an attempted robbery.

At around 7:35 p.m. Saturday evening a man entered the AZ Food Mart in north St. Louis begging for money. When he was denied the suspect voluntarily left the store.

At closing time a store employee was leaving with the day's earnings when he was again approached by the suspect who was demanding the money with a handgun and began firing shots. The employee, who has a conceal and carry permit, returned fire as the suspect fled the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
