St. Louis (KSDK) - Fox Sports Midwest broadcaster Ricky Horton is among former St. Louis Cardinals players who recall the day 25 years ago, when the Cardinals clinched the 1987 National League Championship Series.
The San Francisco Giants were the Cardinals' opponent back then, as well.
Sunday night, Horton said, "I remember a lot of things about that series, including Jose Oquendo winning Game 6."
That came on a sacrifice fly that put the Cardinals ahead for good.
"I remember Candy Moldonado misjudging a ball and turning it into a triple, which is really the only run in that game. So pitchers do a lot of good pitching in that series. Dave Dravecky on their side, Atlee Hammaker had had a good year. So they had really good pitching - Mike Krukow, Scott Garrelt. So they were good, but so were our starting pitching, Danny Cox, John Tudor," he said.
