St. Louis (KSDK) - NewsChannel 5 gets dozens of e-mails a day, but one really got our attention.

The mother of a 9-year-old wants to find a soup kitchen or place to hand out toys or food over the holidays. She asked NewsChannel 5's Kay Quinn to run a story on local holiday volunteer opportunities.

It's a great idea, and there are a lot of local families who would like the same information.

Alex Brownfield, a volunteer center manager for the United Way of Greater St. Louis joined First @ 4 to talk about how easy it can be to volunteer.
